There are new confirmed updates for the Tesla Cybertruck, as well as a new video of the Cybertruck at Tesla's Fremont Factory test track. CEO Elon Musk has a four-motor configuration:
“Initial production will be a 4-motor variant, with independent, ultra-fast response torque control of each wheel." Since it has rear steering, it can also move like a tank, or crab.
In the video, the Cybertruck has a massive windshield wiper. Tesla is currently developing an electromagnetic wiper system that features a single blade. The Cybertruck also has side mirrors. Elon Musk states that they plan on making it easy to remove, so owners can modify it themselves. Tesla originally wanted side cameras feeding the screen inside, but North American regulations do not allow it. The retractable bed cover featured in the original prototype is missing.
The overall design of the Cybertruck's bumpers are updated to comply to regulations with three smaller additional front-facing lights.
Elon Musk has also confirmed the “Tesla Cybertruck can come in any color as long as it’s nothing.”
He also adds the “Cybertruck is built with an exterior shell made for ultimate durability and passenger protection. Starting with a nearly impenetrable exoskeleton, every component is designed for superior strength and endurance, from Ultra-Hard 30X Cold-Rolled stainless-steel structural skin to Tesla armor glass.”
